NIKE NEWS - Since both Lance Mountain and Craig Stecyk are big fans of the Blazer and since they have a history of working together, Nike figured it couldn't hurt to see if they wanted to collaborate again. But asking them to simply color up a shoe would be a doing a disservice to the skaters of the world. What started with a simple conversation over a year ago between old friends grew into a project that includes some of Craig's original artwork, a zine, a short film and of course the actual footwear and apparel that they worked on. HIGHVALLEY SKATEPARK NEWS - Highvalley Skatepark is going to be built in 2009 and ready to shred for 2010. The Skatepark is going to be the biggest in Europe with about 10.000 qm concrete for all styles of skateboarding plus in connection a 900m longboard and a 650m downhill slope. SHOPLIFTIN- Skate Shops From Across The US To Compete In DVS' First Video Contest Shopliftin-the company's first ever shop video contest. Hundreds of shops entered, but only the first hundred to RSVP were made eligible to compete. Entered teams will have exactly five months to film, produce, and edit their submissions which will be judged by DVS riders, filmers, and team managers. SICK BOYS DVD - Mack Dawg Productions to Re-Release Legendary Skate Film 'Sick Boys' on DVD - In 1988 Mack Dawg Productions released a skateboarding film called 'Sick Boys'. Shot entirely on Super 8 film 'Sick Boys' documents the early street skating movement in San Francisco along with footage of select demos, skate camps and competitions from those formative times. The film primarily focuses on legends Tommy Guerrero, Mickey Reyes, Bryce Kanights, Mike Archimedes, Natas Kaupas, Julien Stranger, Jim Thiebaud, Ron Allen, and Steve Caballero as well as shots of Christian Hosoi, Tony Magnusson, Eric Dressen, Danny Sargent, and many, many others. Free from outside control or industry support, 'Sick Boys' was produced without any sponsors and had a limited distribution of 1,000 VHS copies worldwide. Sick Boys has become a cult classic that truly depicts how fun and care free skating was 20 years ago. From the roots of the whole street movement to classic road trips and excursions 'Sick Boys' remains relevant to this day. In order to commemorate this visual history, Mack Dawg Productions is proud to re-release 'Sick Boys' for the first time on DVD. Included extras within the re-release are the 'Sick Boys to Men' never-before seen interviews with Tommy Guerrero, Mickey Reyes, Bryce Kanights, Mike Archimedes, Natas Kaupas, Julien Stranger, Jim Thiebaud, and Ron Allen. These 2008 interviews provide great insight into the way skating was back then and how being a skater featured in Sick Boys has changed and intertwined their lives. Also included is a collector's booklet with classic photographic images from Bryce Kanights, Tobin Yelland and Luke Ogden. 'Sick Boys' DVDs will be shipping in November of 2008. City has completed the review of bids and staff has prepared and submitted a RAP Board Report for the award of the construction contract. It is tentatively scheduled to be on the 11/5/08 agenda of the RAP Board meeting. After the contract award, it typically takes about 4 weeks to have the contract signed executed. We are looking at December/early January for the groundbreaking. CIRCLE JERKS News: The Circle Jerks have just released two special vinyl products that will interest both fans and collectors. In a first for the band, a 12' vinyl picture disc has been released on Porterhouse Records of the bands debut album 'Group Sex'. This will be a collectors item to be sure. In fact an extremely limited group of the initial pressing have been autographed by the surviving original band members Keith Morris, Greg Hetson and Lucky Lehrer. The band has also releasing limited edition colored vinyl of the 'Group Sex' L.P. The run included various colors including pink, clear and clear blue. DIARY OF A PUNK AT ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Series, From Songwriters to Soundmen, Features Mike Hudson Of The Pagans. Mike Hudson, Pagans front man, will read from his recently released biography, Diary of A Punk. Wednesday, November 19th, 2008 at 7:00 pm at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, OH.
