25TH MONSTER MASTERSHIP - A Quarter of a Century of Mastership - Preparations for the anniversary are already going ahead at full steam - June 30- July 2, 2006 - In July 2006, the most important contest in the skateboard scene will be celebrating its 25th anniversary The two-day Monster Rock Festival will mark the occasion. 25th Monster Mastership: World Skateboarding Championships - It is just 4 months since the 24th Mastership in Munster. More than 20,000 visitors applauded the World Champion in Street Style, Daniel Vieira, and held their breath as Sandro Dias rocked the Pipe with a perfect 900 in the Vertfinal. To mark the occasion, the skateboard community celebrated along with lovers of funky guitar-chords to the tunes of Mando Diao, Pennywise and Turbonegro at the Monster Rock Festival. Since September, the organiser of the event, titus communications GmbH, has been pushing ahead at full steam with plans and preparations for the forthcoming 25th anniversary of the Mastership. The next Mastership will be held in the Munsterland Arena from June, 30th until July, 2nd 2006: a completely new street course and half pipe, will attract riders from all over the world and skateboard fans to Munster. Then, the University town will once again be firmly under the control of the international skateboarding elite, who will determine their official World Champion in the “Street” and “Half-pipe” competitions. The highly personal atmosphere of the event promises the public close-up contact to their heroes. Given its history, the wealth of innovation (such as the legends contest and Europe’s first looping) and, finally, the level of the prize money, the Mastership has, over the years, succeeded in establishing itself in the face of competition from other skateboard contests. In addition, it is one of three official World Cups on this continent. This fact and initial discussions with USprofessional riders associations, will also guarantee a high-calibre field of participants. The Mastership is now in the position of being able to welcome the third generation of skateboard professionals. Riders who, in the 1980s, themselves hurtled daringly into the pipe, are today team managers and company bosses, and now send their own riders onto the course. The whole thing started 25 years ago in a company car park in Munster: at the time, skateboarding was completely new in Germany and a mere 20 spectators were able to generate enthusiasm for the first World Skateboard Championships. A quarter of a century later, the Monster Mastership is an established feature in the tightly-packed event calendar of professional skateboarding, and will once again fully live up to its cult status within the community. www.wcsk8.com

sponsored by Quiksilver, Electric, and DC - November 19th, 2005 - November isn’t exactly peak season for the beaches in San Diego. But its about to get even colder this November 19th when we dump 22 TONS OF FRESHLY MADE SNOW in the East parking lot of Belmont Park in Mission Beach, CA. Supporting Sponsors are Grenade, Dakine, Ogio, TechNine, Ride, Academy, Salomon, DVS, Matix, Mammoth, FuelTV. The festivities continue on into the evening at the WaveHouse where we’ll be getting the party started with a special showing of DC’s new “MTN. LAB” DVD on the giant Jumbo-Tron above the wave. Following the video premiere we’re going to heat things up a little bit with the “MISS SUN DIEGO 2006” MODEL SEARCH. We will narrow down the contestants to twenty bikini clad ladies who will then compete for $500.00 CASH and the coveted title of Miss Sun Diego 2006. Then comes the very SPECIAL MUSICAL PERFORMANCE with Simple Thoughts, Inthevisualz, Clutch Shooters, Ominous Words, Awol of Shape Shifters, Writers Block of the Visionaries, and super SPECIAL GUEST U-GOD OF WU TANG CLAN! "MANUFACTURING DISSENT" NEW WORKS BY SHEPARD FAIREY - Exhibition Dates - NOVEMBER 4th - 27th at BLACK FLOOR GALLERY 319 A North 11th Street 3rd Floor Philadelphia, PA 19107 The term “Manufacturing Dissent” is a derivation of “the manufacturing of consent,” a phrase coined by Walter Lippmann to describe the propaganda engineering that he helped devise in order to drum up public support for World War I. Shepard Fairey designed his politically-charged pieces to counteract the hawkish manipulations of right-wing spin doctors with biting sarcasm and thought-provoking paradoxy. He juxtaposes symbols of combat with feminine imagery to expound upon his concept of powerful pacifism, the idea that force should be used as a means of protection rather than aggression. The explicit messages are a departure from Fairey’s deliberately ambiguous style. Rather than calling on people to question their surroundings, he asks them to fortify their values. While politicians and public relations gurus aim to skew reality into a more satisfying tune, Fairey strikes a dissonant chord, unusually lovely in its honesty. SAVE TRESTLES - If Surfers Do Not Save Trestles, Who Will? The water quality, sandbar sedimentation, and glorious sense of place of Trestles are threatened by an ill-planned toll road highway that would parallel (not just cross) the largely pristine San Mateo Creek that empties into the great Trestles breaks. It's very important to keep the proposed toll road highway out of San Onofre State Beach and away from the San Mateo Creek. ART FOR THE OCEANS AUCTION - Nearly 700 people including celebrities, New York socialites and a host of East Coast surfers descended upon Milk Studios in New York's Meatpacking District on Saturday October 15 for the Surfrider Foundation's first ever Art for the Oceans Auction. Master board shaper Al Merrick created 35 6'2" fish surfboards
which were sent to artists around the globe. These artists were asked to paint, sculpt, draw or in some other form turn the boards into art. The results were simply astounding (view the
boards at http://www.surfrider.org/auction2005). In addition, surf pioneer Herbie Fletcher shaped a 12' full-gun which was then painted by world-famous artist Julian Schnabel. Other
highlights included works by Raymond Pettibon, Wolfgang Bloch, John Van Hamersveld and Melinda Morey. The evening's festivities raised over $320,000 for the Surfrider Foundation. After the auction guests were treated to a musical performance by New York
based recording artist Citizen Cope. Apart from the money raised, the event signaled the "planting of Surfrider Foundation's flag" in New York City. More coverage of the event

Hobgood’s win today comes on the heels of last month’s 2nd place finish at the Quiksilver Pro France, and is Damien’s first WCT victory since winning the Quiksilver Pro in Fiji in 2004. Despite intermittent wind and rain, contest organizers made a concerted effort to complete the event on Tuesday, leaving Hobgood and his fellow competitors to face a long arduous day of surfing. Blustery winds and deteriorating conditions failed to stop Hobgood from charging through round four, before advancing into the quarters, semis and final, where he faced Brazilian Victor Ribas. Ribas, who barely requalified for this year’s tour, has himself been surfing well as of late, finishing just behind Damien in France. The World Championship Tour now moves on to its final stop, the Rip Curl Pipeline Masters. For more information on the WCT, go to www.aspworldtour.com and www.surfrider.org.

The specimens were also analyzed for tetrahydrogestrinone. Testing was carried out according to ISA Anti-Doping Code (which is the same as the WADA code) without any problems. 28 countries participated in the week-long competition held October 8th through October 16th, including Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Hawaii, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Tahiti, United Kingdom, United States and Venezuela.
