SAVE THE BRO BOWL - The city of Tampa Parks and Rec Dept invite all interested residents to two public meetings concerning the development of a master plan for the Perry Harvey Sr. Skatepark aka Bro Bowl. Attendees will be asked to share their ideas. Meetings to be held Oct 14th and Oct 23 at Central Park Auditorium @ 1000 India St. in Tampa, FL. Bowl jam at the Bro Bowl after the meetings. The city has no idea how historical this bowl has become for the skateboarding community. It was built about 1979 and is still in great shape. It's in the Tony Hawk Pro Skater video game which is sold and played all over the world. The city is emphasizing history in the new park proposal by putting up expensive signs and statues, but is willing to sacrifice a historical skateboarding landmark already there. The Bro Bowl already meets or excedes the criteria for a landmark. Unless the city receives enough support saying so, we could lose the Bro Bowl forever. Please e-mail Brad Suder at brad.suder@tampagov.net and come to the meetings with as many people as possible. If you can't make the meeting remember that every e-mail sent is public record. Tell the city to leave the Bro Bowl where it's at, and help burn skateboarding into Tampa, Florida's history forever. Please help by forwarding this e-mail into cyber space to reach as many skaters as possible!!! Thank you. David Miller at skatefreak@tampabay.rr.com

For Immediate Release - THE ROLLING STONES’ ROCK FILES: TRUTH OR LIES? EAGLE VISION TO RELEASE MAJOR DOCUMENTARY OCTOBER 17 -- Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its wholly-owned Eagle Vision subsidiary, will release The Rolling Stones’ Rock Files: Truth Or Lies on October 17. The 87-minute documentary spans 41 years in the life of the greatest rock’n’roll band ever from its 1961 inception through to its triumphant 40 Licks tour in 2002. It comes with bonus footage of archival performances. The Rolling Stones have recorded 437 songs on 24 albums. They have been the subject of feature films, tribute albums and hordes of books. They have defined their generation, playing the dark polar opposite of The Beatles (Let It Be and Let It Bleed were released within months of each other, the titles alone serving as a perfect encapsulation of each band’s public persona). Rock Files: Truth Or Lies pulls no punches. From the songs to the scandals…from the crises to the excesses…you hear from the lawyers, you hear Mick himself, on the courthouse steps, expounding upon drugs, McCartney and Christianity. Cameras follow Keith into court for his drug bust. Cameras are at Mick and Bianca’s wedding. A spotlight is focused on the legendary manager Andrew Loog Oldham. A bizarre short to insure damage control when their reputation got out of hand is included. The era of “Swinging Britain” is revisited on Carnaby Street with Mary Quant and other scenesters. And, the most infamous rock’n’roll arrest of all, starring Marianne Faithful, which came to be known as The Redland Raid, is remembered.

AMERICAN HARDCORE - Rhino Entertainment will release the soundtrack to the film American Hardcore: The History of American Punk Rock (1980-1986) on October 10, 2006. Emerging in the early 1980s, hardcore punk championed independent thought and a fuck-you attitude - all with a fierce "Do-It-Yourself" aesthetic. More than just loud, fast music driven by primal aggression, bands like Bad Brains and Black Flag helped launch an underground social movement that tapped into the disaffection of misfit kids who came of age in the Reagan era. Filmmaker Paul Rachman and writer Steven Blush capture the spirit of this subculture with their documentary, American Hardcore, and Rhino Records delivers the hard-hitting soundtrack. www.rhino.com. The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP), four-star World Qualifying Series (WQS) O'Neill Cold Water Classic presented by Jeep will take place in Santa Cruz, Calif., October 17-22, 2006. As the final WQS contest on the U.S. mainland ASP North American Tour, the O'Neill Coldwater Classic will provide the last opportunity for the top Trifecta contenders to earn points toward the $15,000 Trifecta prize purse as well as critical WQS points. The Trifecta offers a $33,333 prize purse to the surfer who takes first place in the three California WQS events. Since Dustin Cuizon (Ewa Beach, HAW), currently rated 19th on the WQS, did not win the Newport Beach Pro presented by Jeep the competition will now focus on the overall points winner. The Trifecta, along with Action Sports Group (ASG) and ASP North America, will award an overall points-winner bonus of $10,000, a second-place bonus of $3,500 and a third-place bonus of $1,500. Cuizon's win at the Body Glove Surfbout presented by Adio in April put him on top of the Trifecta ratings. His fourth-place finish at last weeks 2006 Newport Beach Pro keeps him in the Trifecta lead, but Nate Yeomans' (San Clemente, CA) first-place finish has narrowed the gap to just 90 points going into the O'Neill Cold Water Classic. Rounding out the top four contenders for the $15,000 Trifecta prize purse is the 2006 Newport Beach Pro runner-up Nathaniel Curran (Oxnard, CA) with 1,830 points and South Bay stand out Alex Gray (Palos Verdes, CA) with 1,545 points.
