JUICE MAGAZINE will present a WORLD RECORD WALL RIDE event sanctioned by the World Skateboarding Association and United States Skateboarding Association at the BOARD GALLERY Grand Opening. The two-day skateboarding contest will feature world class skateboarders competing for the World Record 'HIGHEST WALL RIDE'. The Skate contests will be held in the center court at Hollywood + Highland. Saturday's event will feature the preliminary WALL RIDE COMPETITION with 10 FINALISTS advancing to the Finals on SUNDAY.

The WORLD RECORD 'HIGHEST WALL RIDE' event will be moderated by JAMES O'MAHONEY - director of the World Skateboarding Association (WSA) and the U.S. Skateboarding Association (USSA). O'Mahoney is the creator of the first televised World Record skateboarding events in 1975 for the Guinness World Records at the request of Sir David Frost, ABC Television and Guinness World Records. The first world records for skateboarding included the barrel jump, high jump and fastest speed on a skateboard. Guinness World Records has been invited to endorse the 'HIGHEST WALL RIDE' event for a Guinness World Record.

The World Record 'HIGHEST WALL RIDE' will not be a roll-in approach as this is a contest based on pure human skill. The skateboarders will approach the wall ride from a flat surface under his or her own power. There will be an 80-foot runway up to the wall ride. The skateboarder must skate up to a 4-foot tall wedge ramp set up at a 45 degree angle straight to a 17-foot tall vertical wall. The wall will be 12-feet wide. No fakies. No grabs. The skateboarder must remain on the board and come back down the wall then down the wedge ramp back to flat ground while remaining in control of the skateboard. The 'HIGHEST WALL RIDE' will be measured by the highest point reached by the back wheel of the skateboard on the vertical wall. Rules for the contest will be announced on Aug 21, 2004. Skateboarders wishing to compete will need to pre-register and sign in at the Board Gallery before 2:30PM on Saturday, August 21, 2004.

Prize money will be awarded to 1st ($1000), 2nd ($100) and 3rd ($50) place winners of the 'HIGHEST WALL RIDE' Contest and to the winners of the BEST TRICK Contests ($100 to each winner) on Saturday and Sunday. Skaters must be invited and must pre-register to compete. There are no registration fees. To register for the contest, call Juice Magazine at 310-399-5336 or e-mail JuiceSSS@aol.com. A professional street course, wall ride and mini ramp will be provided by the same crew that designed and built the X Games mini ramps and street course. Expected attendance for this event is 50,000-100,000 spectators throughout the weekend.

Skateboarders that have confirmed attendance include: Christian Hosoi, Brian Patch, Eric Dressen, Jesse Martinez, Eric Britton, Aaron 'Fingers' Murray, John Lucero, Patrick Melcher, Ragdoll, Pat Rakestraw, Chris Cook, Darrel Delgado, Jake Piasecki, Dave Reul, Don Fisher, Eddie Reategui, Jimmy 'The Greek', PeeWee, Mike Santarossa, Stacy Lowery, Devon Lamb, Scotty Schwartz, Jim Grey, Heidi Fitzgerald, Pat Ngoho, Cyril Mountain,Frank Hirata, Zack Grove, Baby Paul Cullen and many more...
